Why Richi?
Richi has 30 years experience performing at thousands of events across Australia and overseas. He is passionate about making your function a success. When you book Richi you’re getting a world class DJ and a whole lot more.
What Richi does is a show incorporating audience interaction, DJing (with a full collection of Western and Indian music), MCing and Live Dhol Drumming.
MC
You have the option of getting Richi to MC your event. He’s an experienced and professional Master of Ceremonies. If you already have an MC he’s available to support them and make any announcements required.
Richi uses the mic during the dancing to engage with the audience. He loves going into the crowd and getting them to make lots of noise. He projects his energy to the audience and receives even more back.
Dhol
The dhol is the party drum of India, the beat of Bhangra music played at weddings and other celebrations. Richi was the first DJ in Melbourne to perform live on the dhol. He’s a skilful player with great energy and rhythm.
During the dancing he plays the dhol every now and then with the music, going into the audience and getting everyone to go nuts! He can also play the dhol by itself at any point in your program. If you’d like more than one drummer we have the Rhythm & Spice Dhol Drummers to take it up a notch.
DJ
Richi’s a high energy DJ who loves interacting with the audience. He understands different cultures and knows how to rock a mixed audience of different age groups and backgrounds.
He puts his heart and soul into delivering a memorable experience for the guests at each show.
What sort of music?
You're getting a Western, Indian and World Music DJ all in one.
Richi has a full collection of English music including Top 40, R&B, House, 70’s & 80’s Disco & Funk, Aussie Rock, Reggae and 60’s Rock & Roll. He grew up in England and Australia listening to these beats.
He’s Australia’s premier Bollywood and Bhangra DJ. Richi started the first ever Bollywood and Bhangra club nights in Melbourne and is an expert in these genres. He also plays Baila, Tamil and Gujarati.
Richi specialises in mixed weddings and themed events playing Greek, Italian, Jewish, Latin, Sega, Asian, African and Middle Eastern music.
The music for each event is prepared in consultation with the client. You’re welcome to indicate any preferences and song requests.
